Black Forest Labs builds the FLUX family of generative AI models, spanning image generation, video, audio synthesis, and — in its newest FLUX 3 release — action-prediction for robotics, all within one multimodal system. Models are offered three ways: a hosted API for production, open-source weights for anyone to self-host, and a browser playground to try before building. FLUX 3 can generate video up to 20 seconds with native audio and is noted for unusually accurate text rendering inside generated images, historically a weak point for image models. The company was founded by Robin Rombach and a team including Andreas Blattmann, Axel Sauer, Dominik Lorenz, Dustin Podell, Patrick Esser, and Sumith Kulal — several of whom created the original Stable Diffusion model before starting Black Forest Labs. Filmmaker Martin Scorsese serves as an advisor, and named enterprise users include Adobe, Microsoft, Mistral, and Picsart. The company raised a $31M Seed in August 2024 and a $307.6M Series B in November 2025, both led by Andreessen Horowitz.
