AMI Labs is building AI that learns by directly perceiving and acting in the physical world — camera and sensor data — rather than the language-first approach behind most current AI systems. Its founding thesis, in the company's words, is that "real intelligence does not start in language. It starts in the world," and that the generative techniques that work for text are inadequate for the continuous, high-dimensional data of real environments. Its "world model" approach learns abstract representations that filter out unpredictable noise, makes predictions in that representation space rather than raw pixels, and plans action sequences under safety constraints — with target applications in industrial automation, robotics, healthcare, and wearables. The founding team is exceptionally credentialed: Yann LeCun (Executive Chairman), the Turing Award-winning AI pioneer and former Chief AI Scientist at Meta; Alex Lebrun (CEO); Laurent Solly (COO); Pascale Fung (Chief Research and Innovation Officer); and Mike Rabbat (VP World Models). The company operates out of Paris, New York, Montreal, and Singapore, and raised a $1.03B Seed round in March 2026 led by Cathay Innovation, Greycroft, Hiro Capital, HV Capital, and Bezos Expeditions.
