YCGlobe is an interactive 3D globe that maps every company to go through Y Combinator — over 6,100 startups and 8,300+ founders as of this writing. Instead of a flat table, companies render as points on a rotating globe clustered by headquarters location, with filters for YC batch, industry, status (active, acquired, or shut down), and flags like "hiring" or "nonprofit."

A few things make it more than just a pretty visualization:

  • "Tech Mafia" clusters — groups of founders who worked together at the same earlier company (PayPal Mafia-style) before going on to found separate YC startups, mapped as connected clusters.
  • University and influencer views — see which universities produced the most YC founders, or which individuals show up as founders, investors, or connectors across the most companies.
  • A searchable database layer alongside the globe, for when you want to query rather than explore visually.
  • It's built by VClense, and useful less as a directory (it's YC-only, not a general startup database) and more as a research and pattern-recognition tool — if you're mapping out competitive landscapes, tracking a specific YC batch, or just want to see how concentrated founder networks really are.
